The Rev William Bernard of Chatworthy Somerset is the Lord of the Manor of Luppitt and Mohuns Ottery, but a great part of the parish belongs to Mr H.W.Helyar. The vicarage is in the patronage of the Rev W. Bernard, and incumbency of the Rev John Cabbell who has held the living since 1796. There was anciently a free chapel at Mohuns Ottery and the Presbyterians had formerly a meeting house at Shaugh. Two small schools are supported by Mrs Elizabeth P. Simcoe.
